Wednesday 2nd July 2003 - Congratulations Carluke! Well done to the Carluke Campaign who have hit their trigger! As of 2.30pm we're only 22 registrations shy of our target. C'mon Wishaw! We're almost there... Tuesday 1st July 2003 - Poster campaign going live! The BT produced posters have arrived and these should start to appear in shop windows and supermarket notice boards over the next week. We are also going to be placing laminated notices on lamposts similar to the political parties during election campaigns. If you want to help with the poster campaign the email address is broadband4wishaw@lycos.co.uk Geo from the Carluke Broadband Initiative has also sent us a number of car stickers surplus to their requirements. These are also available if you want one (or three!) The Wishaw Press are keen to do a celebratory article when we hit the trigger - here's hoping that it's in the next week or so! Wednesday 25th June 2003 - We're over 300! Sorry for the delay in updating the site but it was a hefty weekend! And as the count didn't seem to be moving from 295 after the publicity generated by the Wishaw Press and Clan FM your humble campaigner was feeling a bit disheartened.... But we're above 300 now and there are posters and flyers on order. If you care to help with the distribution then let me know - broadband4wishaw@lycos.co.uk Wednesday 18th June 2003 - The Wishaw Press is on-board! As of this afternoon we're only 55 registrations short of fast, always-on and affordable broadband access. Here's hoping that the article on page 16 of this week's paper helps us on our way! Other news - The new campaign site from BT has gone live so we've ordered up A3 posters for that final push. If you run a local retail business in the town or could sneak a poster up in the shop window when the boss isn't looking then get in touch by emailing broadband4wishaw@lycos.co.uk Tuesday 17th June 2003 - Clan FM contacted A joint press release for Wishaw & Carluke was supplied to Clan FM this afternoon. We should feature at some point Thursday 19th. Friday 13th June 2003 - New Campaign expected from BT Wholesale on Monday We're not sure what's happening with the additional 1000 leaflets as BT Wholesale have a new campaign launching on Monday 16th June which supercedes the design of the previous flyers. An update on this will be posted early next week. Other news - According to ADSLguide.org we're expected to hit trigger on the 4th July. If you haven't told your granny about Broadband yet then now's the time to do so! Thursday 12th June 2003 - 1000 extra leaflets requested! The campaign is hopeful of having the missing 1000 leaflets reprinted and distributed in Wishaw soon. If you scan down the page to the 6th June entry you'll see these were mistakenly distributed in Carluke! If you have received a leaflet and are still unsure how to register your interest you can do it here - http://www.bt.com/btbroadband/register/ns_register_intro.jsp Tuesday 10th June 2003 - Wishaw Press contacted! A press release was supplied to the Wishaw Press this week and hopefully we'll have a feature in the 18th June edition. This may be just the help we need to hit 350. Other news - Pre-registrations jump up by 26 in one day! We're
still waiting on news of the leaflet drop but something must be working
- as of today we're only 66 short of our magic target! The bad news first - we haven't had any reply from the National Leaflet Company about the recent leaflet drop. We checked with several people in the town and it appears as if very few of them received a leaflet. Perhaps it was the Notional Leaflet Company that BT Wholesale used..... The good news is that as BT has rung up 1 Million Broadband punters nationwide they're dropping the targets of each campaign by 50 - so as you can see from the barometer we've got less than 100 to go! Saturday 7th June 2003 - Register your interest with BT direct! If you haven't already registered your interest with your ISP (and/or are unsure how to do so) then you can register directly with BT at this address - http://www.bt.com/btbroadband/register/ns_register_intro.jsp (please note you'll need to supply your BT Customer Account Number) Friday 6th June 2003 - Leaflet Campaign "hiccups" George at the Carluke Broadband Initiative informed us earlier this week that Wishaw Broadband Campaign leaflets were being distributed there! I've since been told that 1000 of the 13000 leaflets intended for Wishaw were mistakenly distributed in Carluke. The National Leaflet Company has apologised for the error. I'll post an update as soon as I have more info... Thursday 29th May 2003 - Leaflet Campaign scheduled for week commencing 2nd June! The National Leaflet Company and BT Wholesale have worked together with the BB4W campaign over the last few weeks in order to run a leaflet drop to increase awareness of the benefits of broadband. If you stay or work in the ML2 0xx, ML2 7xx or ML2 8xx postcodes you should see a leaflet soon! Wednesday 28th May 2003 - Broadband approaching Dial-up Prices! Two ISPs have come to the campaign's attention for all the right reasons! http://www.fairadsl.co.uk
- are offering broadband for only £18.99 a month. Tuesday 11th Mar 2003 - BB4W Forum added to www.lanarkshirebusiness.com Jim McCann has helped the campaign enormously by adding a forum to the Lanarkshire Business portal. If you're interested in adding your voice then head along to http://www.lanarkshirebusiness.com/forum/default.asp |
